The Gurkha manufactured by Force Motors is to get an upgrade on engine and safety to meet the BS-IV norms. It is expected that the upgraded BS-IV variant Gurkha will be rolled out within the next one year. The BS-IV variant Gurkha will be powered by a cleaner version of the existing 2.6-litre diesel engine which produces 82 PS and 230 Nm of torque. And it also receives an improved 5-speed manual transmission.
The rumours are there it may also get the more powerful 2.2-litre BS-IV engine which delivers 141 PS and 321 Nm of torque. If the rumours come true then the new Gurkha will have a good power and torque than its primary rival, Mahindra Thar. The Gurkha is a hardcore and very focused off-road machine which has low concerns of comfort. Currently, it is available in three variants, 2WD Soft top, 4WD Soft top and 4WD hardtop.
The Gurkha is currently sold through 25 Force Motors’ dealerships in India. The Delhi ex-showroom price is Rs.10.23 lakh, which may feel expensive for what it gets you and is also pricier than the Thar. But if you are on the lookout for a serious off-roader, the Gurkha is the best of the off-roaders.
