Ford Freestyle Launch Details & Reviews

Ford India has started to accept bookings for its first Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV) Freestyle. The Ford Freestyle can be either said as another Figo, but the mechanical and new styling updates make it look like an all-new car. The new Ford Freestyle comes between the line-up of the hatchback model Figo and the SUV model EcoSport. It is expected to hit the road by the end of this month. And from thereafter it will face competition from the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Celerio X, Toyota Etios Cross and even the Fiat Urban Cross.

The exterior of Ford Freestyle is featured with a bunch of black design elements for the mesh grille, bumper inserts, underbody cladding and ORVMs. The large automatic halogen headlamp also gets black bezels. The Freestyle also includes LED taillamps and rear windshield wiper, front and back skid plates, and rain sensing wipers. For the interior, Ford has utilized premium quality material for the upholstery. The well-equipped dashboard comes with a floating touchscreen display borrowed from EcoSport with all the latest connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android auto along with the Ford’s SYNC3 in-car system. It also includes automatic climate control, reverse parking sensor with the camera, and ABS with EBD, dual front airbags for safety measures. Top variant is featured with six airbags.

The Freestyle is somewhat bigger than the Figo in all angles. It measures 3954 mm length, 1737 mm in width and 1570 mm in height. Even though the boot space is the same 257 litres, the wheelbase is reduced to 2490mm. It gets 15-inch alloy wheels.

The Ford Freestyle gets an all-new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder dragon series petrol engine which produces 95 bhp at 6500 rpm and a peak torque of 120 Nm at 4200 rpm. The diesel variant is powered by the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine in the EcoSport which delivers 99 bhp at 3750 rpm and 215 Nm of peak torque. Both the engine is mated to 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The Ford Freestyle is available in four variants, Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, and Titanium+. The price in India starting from Rs. 7 lakh.
