The new Jawa motorcycles will be powered by the same engine platform used in the Mahindra Mojo. Mahindra and Mahindra are expected to launch new Jawa branded motorcycles in India by the end of 2018 or in 2019.
The new Jawa motorcycles will come based on a classic styling and will compete with the Royal Enfield in Indian Market. The development and production work of Jawa motorcycle is set to commence under the Mahindra plant in Pithampur, Madhua Pradesh.
Mahindra recently launched a carburetted variant of the 300 cc engine for the Mojo UT300 which produces 22.7 BHP @ 7,500 rpm and 25.2 Nm of torque @ 5,500 rpm. But Mahindra has not given any update whether Jawa would use the carburetted variant engine on their models. Mahindra declared that there will no be no Mahindra badging on any of the Jawa bikes.
Mahindra is also working on some new variants and iterations of the Mojo which will be introduced soon and this will make the Mojo more accessible as well. It is expected that Mahindra will bring the variants of supersport and cruiser into the market.
Mahindra might be looking at the 2018 Auto Expo as a deadline to showcase its first Jawa product. The company has not given any idea about the price of Jawa motorcycle but the prices are expected to be in the INR 2-3 lakh category.
