Royal Enfield has unveiled their next generation bike models at EICMA 2017. This time they have showcased two 650cc models “Interceptor and Continental GT”. Both these bikes comes with parallel-twin engine and these are the most powerful models ever produced by Royal Enfield. The design of new engine is to give balance between power and torque to make the riding more smooth and these are the first models which won’t need any frequent gear shifting. The new parallel-twin engine helps to reduce the vibration and gives better refinement.
The Interceptor and Continental GT comes with 4 stroke, single overhead cam, air-oil cooled, 648 cc parallel twin engine which will produce maximum power of 47 bhp @ 7100 rpm and maximum torque of 52 Nm @ 4000 rpm. The bore and stroke is 78 mm x 67.8 mm. Both these bikes has got Fuel injection system and 6 speed gear transmission system. Interceptor has got 13.7 Litres tank whereas GT has 12.5 Litres tank capacity.
The frame of these models are Steel tubular, double cradle. The front suspension is 41 mm front fork, 110 mm travel and rear is Twin coil-over shocks, 88 mm travel. The front brake is 320 mm discABS and rear is 240 mm disc ABS. Both these models have ABS system. The overall length of the bike both these bikes are same 2122 mm and overall width of Interceptor is 789 mm and Continental GT is 744 mm. The kerb weight of Interceptor is 202 kg and GT is 198 kg. The expected price of these models are around 3.5 lakhs- 4 lakhs.
