What if i say 2019 would be an Electrical Year ? Electric Scooters to Take over Indian Scooter Market

The Indian scooter market is growing steadily and continuously, which means that in the coming time, this segment can be seen as much growth. Only 100-110cc scooter segments are getting very popular in the market right now. At the same time, companies are working hard to achieve similar popularity in 125cc. In addition to this, in the electric scooter segment, several new models are being released till next year. The effectiveness of these electric scooters will be known in the coming time, but the companies claim that the power and features of these scooters are quite strong. So let’s know about them which are going to be launched in India in 2018-19.
Twenty Two Flow
India’s startup company Twenty Two Motors has launched the Flow Electric Scooter at 2018 Auto Expo. The company has priced it at Rs 74,740 (ex-showroom Delhi). However, this scooter will be delivered to customers from June of this year. The Flow is India’s first lithium-ion battery used an electric scooter, the company has given many such features which make it quite different from other scooters. The company has included Artificial Intelligence, Digital Console, Electric Braking System (EBS), LED Lights, Geo-Fencing and many other features. It has a DC motor that runs on a lithium-ion battery. It is capable to generate a peak torque of 90 Nm. This battery will take five hours to complete the charge and offers a range of 80 km on a single charge with a speed of 60 kmph. The company also offers an additional battery that doubles the range.
Ather S340
Indian start-up company Ather energy set up by former students of IIT Madras Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain will launch their first product Ather S340 electric scooter this year. The concept of this scooter was first introduced in 2016. The Ather S340 will get a touch-sensitive coloured dashboard that will show various ride modes, settings and navigation. It also gets a dedicated mobile app that will be able to connect to the scooter and show various ride statistics. The Ather S340 is also loaded with an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery that can take the scooter to up to 80 km per charge at a fixed speed of 40 km/h. The top speed registered is 72 km/h. The other features include Regenerative Breaking, Multiple Riding Modes, Monoshock Suspension and etc. The price has not been revealed yet but it is expected to announce the prices just before the launch.
Hero Electric Scooter
Hero sells electric scooters through its subsidiary company Hero Electric. During the 2016 Auto Expo, Duet E was introduced by the company based on the regular Duet scooter currently on sale. The components of standard models have been used in Hero Dute E. At the same time, the 5kW electric motor engaged in it will generate a peak torque of 14Nm. The company claims that it takes 6.5 seconds to catch the speed of 0 to 60kmph. This scooter will travel 65 kilometres on a single charge.
TVS Creon electric scooter
TVS Motor Company is also keeping its plans for the electric market. The company introduced the Creon Electric Scooter during the 2018 Auto Expo. The Creon concept features a 12 kW electric motor. It takes 5.1 seconds to catch speeds of 0 to 60 kmph. According to the company’s claim, once the scooter is fully charged, this scooter will travel 80 km.
Mahindra Electric Scooter
Mahindra 2 Wheeler is going to enter the electric two-wheeler segment in the Indian market. The company is planning to launch the electric version of its Gusto scooter. However, the company has not provided any information about its power-line, range, top speed and charging. Mahindra is also working on electric two-wheelers internationally. The company is already selling its GenZe electric scooter in America.
