The Sweden motorcycle manufacturer Husqvarna made the test run of its naked bike Svartpilen 701 in Europe. The Svartpilen 701 based on KTM 690 Duke is the 4th model in the Pilen range of Husqvarna motorcycle which had Vitpilen 701, Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401. It is expected to launch in Europe by the end of 2018. While the Vitpilen 701 has been already launched for sale in Europe. The Svartpilen 701 gets slightly different styling from the company’s own Vitpilen 701.
The Svartpilen 701 designed as a powerful urban icon gets a different handlebar and tyres while compared to Vitpilen 701, the handlebar consists more upright instrument console and the tyres are dual-purpose one, which could tackle off-road terrain also. The steel trellis frame is same on both Svartpilen and Vitpilen 701. The WP suspension unit and Brembo brakes setup are also same on both bikes. The Ride-by-wire and slipper clutch are common features on the Svartpilen and the Vitpilen 701.
The Svartpilen 701 models utilize an indistinguishable engine from the one on the KTM 690 Duke, while the Svartpilen 401 models utilize the engine on the KTM 390 Duke. The 701’s 693cc single-barrel engine makes a maximum power of 73.75 hp and a peak torque of 72 Nm. Along with this, Svartpilen 701 gets the features such as ABS, traction control, quick-shifter and an auto-blipper.
The Husqvarna motorcycle models are expected to be launch by the Bajaj in India by 2020. Bajaj had specified that it will begin the production of 401s in India towards the end of 2019. But, the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 701 has been seen in India recently doing test run. Likewise, it will first dispatch the 401s and afterwards launch the greater 701s.
